RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Bonding
Bonding is a technique Dr. Balderson uses to repair slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth. During dental bonding, Dr. Balderson will place a white filling onto your tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with your teeth, and because it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades, it closely matches the appearance of your natural teeth. Bonding often more affordable than other cosmetic treatments and usually can be completed in one visit to our office.
Bridges
A bridge may be used to replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. Your bridge can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials, and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support.

Crowns
Crowns are a cosmetic restoration used to strengthen a tooth or improve its shape. Crowns are most often used for teeth that are broken, worn, or partially destroyed by tooth decay. Dr. Balderson will "cemented" the crown onto an existing tooth and fully cover the portion of your tooth above the gum line. In effect, the crown becomes your tooth's new outer surface. Crowns can be made of porcelain, metal, or both. Porcelain crowns are most often preferred because they mimic the translucency of natural teeth and are very strong.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
Full-mouth reconstruction, full-mouth rehabilitation, and full-mouth restoration are terms often used interchangeably to describe the process of rebuilding or restoring all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws simultaneously. Dr. Balderson will develop a plan that addresses all your needs and will leave you with a perfect smile, ideal bite, and optimal function.
Implants
If you have lost or missing teeth, you may wish to consider dental implants from Optimum Dental. At our Falls Church, VA office, we offer implant dentistry services designed to restore your teeth and maintain the structural integrity of your mouth. Significantly stronger than bridges or dentures, dental implants offer a single and permanent solution to lost teeth. Dr. Balderson is a member of American Society of Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry (ASIRD) which means she routinely restores and maintains dental implants.
